Ford and Sydney Sweeney Design Dream Mustang

For one fortunate fan of actress and automotive enthusiast Sydney Sweeney, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime! Ford and Sweeney are teaming up to create and give away a bespoke 2024 Ford Mustang, which Sweeney designed to be as close to her ideal car as possible. The vehicle is modeled on her 1965 Mustang, which she named Britney.

Born into a family of mechanics in Spokane, Washington, Sweeney first learned to drive in her great-grandfather’s Ford F-100. During the Covid-19 lockdowns, she also restored a 1969 Ford Bronco, posting videos of the work on Tiktok and gaining a significant following.

“It’s heartening to see Ford celebrate individuals who are pushing past stereotypes to do what they love,” Sweeney said. “That’s why I was so excited to work with Ford on designing my dream car, and I can’t wait to surprise someone special with a matching vehicle.”

The contest was created to celebrate people who follow their passions in spite of others’ preconceptions. Sweeney has collaborated with the company on two exclusive workwear collections for Ford x Sydney Sweeney in addition to this project. She also launched an online lookbook and social series called Auto 101 to teach viewers how to perform basic car maintenance tasks like checking tire pressure and jumping a dead battery. The goal of the series is to encourage women to get comfortable working on their cars, a task typically associated with men.

Ford will construct two of Sweeney’s unique bespoke Mustang: one for the actress herself, and one to be given to the competition winner. This distinctive robins-egg-blue car will have unique textures, embellishments, and even Sweeney’s signature inscribed on it. Its design combines elements of retro and modern style. 

“Like me, Sydney is a Mustang girl. Each generation has its own distinct personality, but at their core, they embody a spirit of disruption, edge, and undeniable allure,” said Laurie Transou, Ford Mustang chief engineer. “Sydney’s interpretation of the Mustang captures this essence perfectly, reflecting the expressive and individualistic nature of those who are drawn to this iconic vehicle.”
