Ford Drives Into a Sustainable Future with New Electric Models

Ford has taken a bold step towards a more electrified future in Europe with the production of three new electric vehicles – the Puma Gen-E, E-Tourneo Courier, and E-Transit Courier. These models, which are now being delivered to customers and showrooms across Europe, are set to transform the electric vehicle landscape, providing enhanced affordability, accessibility, and versatility for both private consumers and businesses.

The Puma Gen-E marks an exciting development in the compact crossover segment, as it brings zero-emission driving to one of Ford’s most popular models in Europe. With its signature fun-to-drive feel and eye-catching design, the Puma Gen-E offers the best of both worlds: sustainability and style. Meanwhile, the E-Tourneo Courier takes on the multi-activity vehicle category, offering customers a spacious interior, flexible features, and advanced tech like Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control. Whether for family adventures or business tasks, the E-Tourneo Courier is built to accommodate a wide range of needs.

For commercial customers, the E-Transit Courier is a standout choice. Offering up to 300 km of range, a 700 kg payload, and 25% more load space than its predecessor, the E-Transit Courier is ideal for businesses looking for a compact, efficient van that can handle heavy-duty work. It even provides enough space to carry two Euro pallets, making it an excellent option for a variety of industries.

Jon Williams, Ford’s general manager of Ford Blue and Model e in Europe, spoke about the company’s growth in the electric vehicle market. “Ford has been on an incredible journey, from introducing our first electric vehicle in Europe, the Mustang Mach-E, to now offering a broad range of electric cars and commercial vehicles in just a few years,” he said. The addition of these new models means that Ford now has a comprehensive electric vehicle lineup, catering to both individual consumers and businesses alike.

All three vehicles are built at Ford Otosan’s advanced assembly plant in Craiova, Romania, underscoring the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainable manufacturing. These vehicles also utilize electric drive units produced at Ford’s facility in Halewood, UK, and parts made at Ford’s Cologne plant in Germany, highlighting Ford’s integrated approach to sustainability. The Craiova plant is also part of Ford’s broader commitment to reducing its environmental footprint, with recent upgrades like the installation of photovoltaic panels and a more efficient logistics hub that has significantly reduced CO2 emissions.

As Ford continues to expand its electric vehicle offerings across Europe, the Puma Gen-E, E-Tourneo Courier, and E-Transit Courier are set to further cement the company’s position as a leader in the transition to a more sustainable future.
