The Ford Motor Company takes safety seriously. Not just for drivers, but also for passengers, precious cargo, and even other drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists who share the road.

In order to better develop driver-assist and safety features for all of its vehicles, Ford teamed up with Mobileye, an Intel company, to offer even better cutting-edge technologies across Ford’s global automotive lineup.

“Providing people with extra confidence while driving is invaluable, and it’s exactly what our available Ford Co-Pilot360™ features are designed to do,” said Lisa Drake, chief operating officer, North America; vice president, Global Purchasing, Ford Motor Company. “By customizing Mobileye’s excellent software and sensing technology, Ford’s great driver-assist features will continue to evolve and provide customers with confidence on the road throughout the life of their vehicles.

As the hand-picked supplier of vision-sensing technology for Ford’s advanced driver-assistance systems, Mobileye will provide its EyeQ family of devices along with vision-processing software to support Level 1 and Level 2 driver-assistance systems.

In Level 1, systems are defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers as “automating a single part of the driving experience” such as steering, acceleration, or brake support. On the other hand, Level 2 systems provide all three. Both levels still require that drivers supervise the performance of their vehicle.

The all-new, more advanced tech makes use of Mobileye’s EyeQ computer chips and software in order to precisely identify what the windshield camera in a vehicle can see. This includes lane markings, traffic signs, pedestrians, and other vehicles, and further supports already existing driver-assist features like Lane-Keeping Assist, Auto High-Beam headlamps, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, and upcoming Active Drive Assist.

Ford will put Mobileye’s name and logo front and center in upcoming SYNC driver-assist displays, making customers physically aware of the company’s advanced technological capabilities for the first time ever.

“It is a privilege to extend and expand our long-standing collaboration with a company that is so committed to safety on behalf of its global customer base,” said Professor Amnon Shashua, president and CEO, Mobileye. “We look forward to working closely together to bring these functionalities to market in the full Ford product lineup.”

Mobileye’s latest tech will appear prominently on Ford vehicles throughout the life of its next-generation.
