Remembering Ford V Ferrari

In 1966 Ford took to Le Mans with a mission. It was simple: beat Ferrari.

Easier said than done.

In order to accomplish the goal there had to be a total overhaul to how Ford took on racing. They needed a new car and a new driver.

Enter Carroll Shelby, the legendary visionary behind many of Ford's most famous muscle models. Shelby teamed with American engineers to create the Ford GT40. This incredible super car had what it took to finally take down Ferrari.

They still needed a driver, and Ken Miles was the perfect man for the job. Born in Britain, raised in America, Miles was a man who spent the majority of his life driving. In fact, during WWII Miles was a tank commander for the British Army.

After the war Miules started racing. He raced Bugattis, Alfa Romeos, and Alvises. Eventually he moved to the Ford V8 Frazer-Nash.

With plenty of practice under his belt and a relationship with Ford he was the perfect man to take this rocketship to Le Mans.

The rest is history. Ford defeated Ferrari at Le Mans and sent waves through the entire industry.

The story was made into a major motion picture starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale that’s available now!
