Ford and SCORE Announce Collaboration as Ford Bronco R Race Prototype Heads to Baja 1000

Early November Ford released more teasers about what to expect with the upcoming release of the all-new Ford Bronco. In addition to a new logo, Ford also debuted the Bronco R race prototype. In honor of celebrating the Ford Bronco’s 1969 Baja 1000 victory, Ford designed the Bronco R race prototype to repeat history and return to the desert race. As the only 4x4 to win the Baja 1000 thus far, SCORE noted the success, and named Ford the Official Truck and SUV of SCORE-International Off-Road Racing.

“Working with SCORE makes great sense based on our truck, SUV and off-road heritage, and especially with some of our future Ford trucks and SUVs including the reveal of the new Bronco next spring,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance motorsports. “Vehicles like our F-150 Raptor and all-new Bronco are built to live and play in the sand of Baja.”

This collaboration between Ford and SCORE begins with the Baja 1000, taking place November 23-25th, and will follow through the end of the 2022 SCORE World Desert Challenge Series season. Ford will be the official lead sponsor for SCORE for 13 races including the 2019-2022 SCORE Baja 1000 races, the 2020-2022 SCORE Baja 400, SCORE Baja 500 and San Felipe 250 event. Ford will also appear at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Expo held in Promona, California.

The Bronco R race prototype was built in collaboration between the Ford Performance team and Geiser Performance of Phoenix. While the prototype celebrates Rod Hall’s 1969 Bronco victory at Baja, the prototype also serves as a hint of what Ford drivers can expect to see in the production Ford Bronco. The Bronco R race prototype will be driven by an all-star team of drivers including the 1000 Trophy Truck champion, Cameron Steele, and Shelby Hall, the granddaughter of Rod Hall.
